Level Designer

Business Area / Division: Design
Location: Oxford
Rebellion Oxford is looking for an experienced Level Designer, passionate about creating and implementing gameplay experiences and the environments they take place in. Successful applicants will be passionate, self-driven and talented, with a genuine interest in playing games of all types.


At least 2 years’ game industry design experience, or equivalent.


  • Primary creative responsibility for the design and execution of one or more game levels
  • Implementation of gameplay using our in-house engine tools
  • Implementation and development of existing missions/levels
  • Work to a functional brief, within technical constraints
  • Iteratively balance and fine tune game play
  • Ensure feedback (from design leads, user testing or QA) is assessed and incorporated into the design where appropriate
  • Understand and work within project requirements and constraints


  • Strong working knowledge of game editors and scripting tools
  • Strong 3d white-boxing skills
  • Good understanding of game design fundamentals
  • Responsive to deadlines and works well under pressure
  • Good communication and documentation skills, able to accept and follow direction
  • Collaborates productively within a multi-disciplined team environment, including artists and coders
  • Able to work effectively with minimal levels of guidance, prioritising and scheduling your own work
