Designer

Business Area / Division: Design
Location: Oxford
 
To be a Designer at Rebellion, you must be passionate about creating and implementing compelling and fun games. Successful applicants are self-driven and talented, with a genuine interest in playing games of all types.
 

Experience: 

Ideally at least 2 years’ game industry design experience, including at least one published game and the proven ability to design engaging game play experiences.
 

Responsibilities: 

  • Design and implementation of gameplay using our in-house engine tools
  • Implementation and development of existing design mechanics and missions/levels
  • Work to a functional brief, within technical constraints
  • Iteratively balance and fine tune game play elements
  • Ensure feedback is assessed and incorporated into the design where appropriate
  • Work closely with development team to resolve issues as they arise
 

Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of game editors and scripting tools
  • Good understanding of the game development process, including technical limitations and opportunities
  • Good understanding of game design fundamentals and an analytical approach to game play
  • Responsive to deadlines and works well under pressure
  • Good communication and documentation skills, able to accept and follow direction
  • Collaborates productively within a multi-disciplined team environment, including artists and programmers
  • Able to work effectively with minimal levels of guidance, prioritising and scheduling your own work
  • Resourceful, practical and self-critical thinker, self-motivated and organised
  • 3d modelling skills an advantage
